Head Coach

James is our Head Tennis Coach, bringing over 25 years of coaching experience, enthusiasm and a passion for helping every player reach their potential. With extensive experience coaching players of all ages and abilities, from young children picking up a racket for the first time through to performance juniors and adult players, James creates a welcoming environment where everyone can develop their game and enjoy being on court.

His coaching philosophy combines high-quality technical instruction with engaging, enjoyable sessions that keep players motivated and progressing. Whether you’re learning the basics, refining your technique, or looking to compete, James tailors each session to suit individual goals while building confidence and a lifelong love of tennis.

Alongside our junior and adult coaching programmes, James is passionate about introducing fun, dynamic sessions that fit into busy lifestyles. From high-energy Cardio Tennis classes to social coaching events and specialist workshops, he offers a variety of opportunities for players to improve their fitness, develop their skills and enjoy the social side of the game.

As Head Coach, James is committed to creating a positive, inclusive club atmosphere where players of every age and ability feel inspired to learn, improve and enjoy the game. His experience, approachable coaching style and dedication to player development ensure that every session is both rewarding and enjoyable.

Hourly rate for individual lessons with James Martin is £43 per hour.

£5 add on fee for non members per lesson.

Adam Chambers

Club Coach

Adam Chambers is an LTA Level 3 Club Coach and has been at Chesham Bois Tennis Club since April 2021. He is a full-time coach with over 18 years’ experience and enjoys working with players of all ages and abilities.
Adam has always had a love for sport and particularly enjoys helping others develop their skills and confidence on court. A familiar face at the club, he is well liked by members for his approachable nature and passion for coaching.


He particularly enjoys his group sessions, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where members can enjoy their tennis, meet new people and build friendships.
For Adam, one of the best things about his job is helping others fall in love with the sport and seeing them develop and progress as players.


Hourly rate for individual lessons with Adam is £35 for one person with £3 for each additional person.

Sam Woodbury

Club Coach

Sam has been playing tennis his whole life and has been a member of the club since he was 7 years old. He is a part-time coach and has been coaching for the past year, helping players of all ages and abilities improve their game and build confidence on court.

Whether you’re looking to improve your technique, consistency, movement or simply enjoy your tennis more, Sam will tailor each session to your individual goals. His sessions are fun, relaxed and focused on helping players get the most out of their time on court.

Hourly rate for individual lessons with Sam is £30.
